Sometimes couples differ on their vision for their wedding day. Crystal and Hans were clear, although their wedding day would be something they will always remember, their focus was on the start of a marriage, rather than on a single day event. They wanted their wedding to be classy, but personal. So when the idea of a football themed wedding was proposed they were all in. Their wedding would be traditional, but also include some intentional nods to the game of professional football. It was also important to feature the melding of ethnic cultures as both the bride and groom were products of ethnic diversity. Crystal’s parents were Sicilian and Syrian, and Hans came from a German and Filipino background. During the ceremony, specific traditions were observed which were spelled out in the Game Day wedding program handed out to guests. The wedding program was custom designed by SportsThemedWeddings.com and looked exactly like a game day program you might receive at a sporting event.
For the wedding day photos, the couple pulled some strings to arrange for a photo session inside of Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. From the team locker room, to the front atrium, to the actual field surface, nothing was off limits to the new Mr. and Mrs. Steiniger. The bridal party posed in the locker room, ran a few plays out on the football field, and lounged in the luxury suites.
The wedding reception featured some great DIY accents to bookend the sports theme without overcrowding it. A banner, hand painted by Lana Walton, and featuring the monogram football logo created by SportsThemedWeddings, hung over the head table. Table centerpieces featured a full-sized NFL football on a floral arrangement centered on a square of outdoor carpeting. The green astoturf mat was masked and spray painted in white to create a border. Two yellow penalty flags filled with Jordan almonds flanked the arrangement. Later in the evening the bride and groom autographed guest footballs. All that attended embraced the theme and had a amazing evening!
