Michelle and Jeff have known each other since they were kids, but they didn’t really become good friends until their senior year of high school. Both went on to Grand Valley State University, near Grand Rapids, Michigan, and by the end of their first year of college they were dating. They spend four years together at GVSU and actually got married on campus, since the university was such a significant factor in their coming together as man and wife. Jeff actually proposed to Michelle on the blue bridge where the bridal party took photos on their wedding day.
Christine Dias Photography out of Lansing, MI did a masterful job of capturing their special day.
Michelle’s bridal bouquet was specifically crafted with red and white flowers to resemble a baseball. The couple also ordered a personalized Detroit Tigers Louisville Slugger baseball bat with their names and wedding date engraved on the bat. The baseball bat was ordered through SportsThemedWeddings.
At the reception, Michelle and Jeff welcomed guests into their world of Detroit Tigers baseball. Upon entering, wedding guests were welcomed by a large vinyl banner marking the entrance to their wedding reception. The banner was an enlarged version of the event ticket wedding invitation designed by SportsThemedWeddings.
The table centerpieces were designed and assembled by the new Mr. and Mrs. Olsen. A cylindrical glass vase was filled with mini foam baseballs and placed on a mat of astro turf, that was painted to resemble a baseball diamond. The vase anchored a floral arrangement, completing the centerpiece. Reception guests were also encouraged to sign the custom Detroit Tigers baseball jersey that the couple used as their guestbook for the event.
The final piece of personalized memorabilia created by the couple was the wedding day program produced by SportsThemedWeddings. The program featured personal photos of the couple and wedding ceremony information, along with any of the details guests would need to get around Grand Rapids, Michigan throughout the weekend.
